UDOSINI:Cop's son caught in gang war, dies

The 17-year-old son of a Delhi Police officer was shot dead in Southeast Delhi, after he unknowingly got caught in a local gang war in Ambedkar Nagar's Madangir area on Sunday night. Sushant Suri had recently cleared his Class XII examination and got admission in an engineering college in Noida.
Police officials said the boy had gone out for an after-dinner stroll with four friends, who happened to be part of a local gang. While they were on the main road in Madangir E-block, seven boys from a rival gang arrived on three bikes and opened fire.
Sushant's friend Deepak Kumar, who also sustained bullet injuries in the shootout, told Newsline: "I had gone out to buy fruits when I saw my friends Kunal, Bobby, Deepak Singh and Sushant hanging out. We were chatting when these boys came on three bikes and opened fire without saying anything. Before I even realised what was going on, one of the bullets hit my leg and I passed out." He claimed the boys were not wearing helmets and did not attempt to hide their identities.
Police said at least five rounds were fired, one of which hit Sushant on the right side of his stomach. The police rushed Sushant to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, but he died soon after.
After Sushant's friend Deepak (Singh) identified all seven assailants, the police registered a case of murder and attempt to murder at Ambedkar Nagar police station against Naveen, Monty, Raja Bawa, Naresh Lefty, Rohit, Sandeep and Jitesh. A manhunt has been launched for the accused.
"It was a case of mistaken identity. All seven accused are part of a gang who have a rivalry with Kunal, Bobby and Deepak. All of them grew up together in Madangir and later fell out. Fights between the gangs have been reported earlier and a couple of them are in jail, but this is the first time one of the gangs has gone in for a murderous assault," an officer said.
Sushant's mother Santosh Kumari is Assistant Sub-Inspector with the Delhi Police, now posted with the security wing. His father Suresh Chand said, "He was not part of the gang. He just knew them and had stopped to say hello. He paid dearly for it."  Yahoo News
