The
police have arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly raping a
10-year-old girl in Ghatkopar. In another case, a man allegedly raped a
widow at her house in Lower Parel in the presence of her 15-year-old
son.
In the Ghatkopar case, the minor girl had on Thursday gone
to a grocery shop at Khandoba Tekdi, where the boy was employed. "The
girl had gone to the shop for biscuits around 10.30 am. The boy
followed her when she left the shop," an officer from Ghatkopar police
said.At a lonely stretch, he allegedly accosted her and dragged her to an isolated place behind a row of shops and raped her. Her parents noticed her bleeding and took her to a hospital in the evening where doctors examined her and concluded that she had been raped.
The accused was apprehended on Friday morning. "He will be produced in a juvenile court. The girl is in a hospital," the officer said.
In the other case, NM Joshi Marg police arrested a 28-year-old man on charges of raping a 36-year-old widow in Kamgar Nagar area in Lower Parel. He allegedly barged into the house and raped her in the presence of her 15-year-old son. The accused, Prakash Amraskar, beat her son when he tried to intervene.
"The woman stays with her son in their house at Kamgar Nagar. Her husband had passed away a few years ago," senior inspector Vasant Tajne said.
Prakash had knocked on her door at 5 am on Friday. When she opened the door, he allegedly hit her son till he passed out, raped the woman and fled. "We arrested Prakash in the afternoon and charged him with criminal trespass, rape and assault," said Tajne.
"He will be produced in court on Saturday. The woman has been taken to a hospital for medical tests. Her son had suffered minor injuries."
