A British expat living in Dubai was sentenced to life behind bars after he was found guilty of trafficking, possessing and using drugs, UAE daily The National reported on Monday.
The man, identified as WR, was arrested at his villa on March 3 after Dubai’s anti-narcotics department was informed he was trafficking drugs.
Police found 1.5kg of cocaine, more than 300 grams of hashish, LSD tablets and Tramadol capsules at his house, the report said.
“Upon our search, no drugs were found on him, but he willingly led us to an amount of hashish in his kitchen and other types of drugs in his bedroom,” an Emirati policeman was quoted as saying by The National.
The convict has 15 days to appeal the verdict and shall be deported after completing his prison term in case the court upholds its ruling, the report added.
