New Delhi , June 2 -- The
Special Cell of the Delhi Police, on Wednesday, arrested a pilot, along
with two of his relatives, for alleged human trafficking. The pilot is
also a proclaimed offender in 20 other cases.
The three were
booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The
Police recovered 63 passports, a fake visa and Rs 7.94 lakh in cash and
a car from them, besides freezing their 11 bank accounts.
"Vipin
Sharma (34), who has a commercial pilot licence, his brother Sachin
Sharma (30) and brother-in-law, Aman Alam (26) were arrested recently
following a tip-off," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell)
Shibesh Singh. According to the police, Vipin is wanted in more than 20
criminal cases in various states including Delhi, Haryana and Punjab.
Aman, a drop-out from NIFT, Ahmedabad, is a proclaimed offenders in six
cases, while Sachin is named offender in four criminal cases. Vipin is
allegedly involved in cases of cheating, forgery, attempt to murder and
wrongful confinement.
He has jumped bail and has managed to avoid
facing trial in most cases. According to the police, Vipin started his
career as a real estate agent in Defence Colony.
In 1998, he met
Ruby, a resident of Patiala, who now lives in the US. Vipin then began
working an immigration agent. "He began expanding his network to Latin
American countries.
Thereafter, Vipin and his associates managed
to send their clients to the USA illegally, through his network via
Jamaica and Havana," the DCP said.
