R. Kelly Headlines World Cup Opening Game Concert

R. Kelly officially kicked off the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa on Friday with a rousing performance of the tournament's anthem "Sign Of Victory."

   More than 84,000 soccer fans sang along at Soweto's Soccer City before the opening game between host nation South Africa and Mexico.

Kelly headlined the pre-game spectacular with the Soweto Spiritual Singers.

   South Africa's former leader Nelson Mandela, who was expected to be a big part of the concert, had to miss the celebrations following the death of his 13-year-old great-granddaughter.

   The teenager was killed in a car crash on her way home from Thursday's Kick-Off Concert party in Johannesburg.

   Thandiswa Mazwai kicked off the music and dance spectacular before the opening game, and was followed by Algerian musician Khlaed, Nigeria's Femi Kuti and African music legend Hugh Masekela, among others, on a revolving stage in the middle of the pitch.

Kid Cudi Arrested In New York City

Rapper Kid Cudi has been arrested in New York and charged with felony criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance.
The 24 year old smashed a woman's cellphone and broke the door of her apartment off its hinges, according to TMZ.com.
Cops found a glass bottle of a controlled substance at the scene.
Further details of the incident and the arrest were not available as WENN went to press. 

 

Is Brandy Stoned?

Brandy showed off her legs in a pink miniskirt at VH1's Hip Hop honors last week. Maybe the newly single star was looking for a new man? It also looks like Brandy smoked some of that funny stuff on the way to the show because not only does she look stoned, but her eyes are all bloodshot, too.
She called off her romance with rapper Flo Rida in a bid to focus on her family and career. She explained, "I don't have a rapper boyfriend named Flo Rida. I am very much about myself. I have to focus on what I need to do."
The R&B singer has laughed off reports she is seriously considering a career in rap after rhyming on a pair of tracks for her upcoming album. She said, "Maybe two songs (on her new album) feature rap, but I'm not turning into a rapper."
