Beating drums, dancing elephants and bugles - this is how Ralegaon Siddhi - a village in Maharashtra welcomed its hero Anna Hazare. Anna was to reach home by Monday evening but preparations for his grand welcome began at day break.
“We did not celebrate Gudi Padwa this year. Now we will celebrate it since Anna is back,” said a villager.
Hundreds poured in from nearby villages to get a glimpse of the 72-year old. For a village that has witnessed several of Anna's satyagrahas - his return this time was special.
As the political class scrambles to take credit for Anna's victory - this gentle 72-year old is back where he belongs - with the masses.
